Back, neck & joint pain
Everyday aches, desk-job stiffness, and long-standing pain in the spine, shoulders, hips and knees.
Gentle, hands-on treatment that looks for the cause of your pain, not just the spot that hurts. One practitioner, one hour, full attention.
Bowen treats a wide range of musculoskeletal and whole-body complaints. These are the reasons people most often book their first visit at Bow's Flow.

Persistent tension headaches and neck-related pain, including symptoms lingering after a car accident.
Soft-tissue injuries that need help settling, and help getting movement back afterwards.
Irritated tendons and stiff, achy arthritic joints, managed with gentle mobilization and soft-tissue work.
Gentle craniosacral and rib-cage techniques to ease sinus pressure and support easier breathing.
Treatment and prevention for runners, lifters, weekend leagues and anyone training through niggles.
Restoring mobility in surrounding tissue once you've been cleared to move again.
Rounded shoulders, uneven hips and the compensations that quietly build up over years.
Hands-on work for dysmenorrhea, focused on the pelvis, low back and surrounding soft tissue.
When you carry it in your jaw, shoulders and breath, and it never quite lets go.
Not sure whether osteopathy is right for what you're dealing with? Call 905‑244‑1031 and ask. Bowen will tell you honestly if you'd be better served elsewhere.
Osteopathic manual care is a holistic, hands-on approach to health that looks at the body's structure and how it functions. Through gentle manipulation and mobilization of muscles, joints and connective tissue, it improves movement, relieves pain, and supports the body's own ability to heal.
The pain you feel is often not where the problem started. A stiff hip can surface as low back pain; an old ankle injury can change how you hold your shoulders. Bowen assesses how the whole body is moving before deciding where to treat.
That is why a first appointment spends real time on assessment. Treating the spot that hurts can settle things for a week. Treating what caused it is what stops you booking the same appointment again in a month.
Supporting your body's natural ability to heal, so you can live with less pain and more flow.
Reduces pain from injury, repetitive strain, stress and long-standing conditions.
Encourages your body's innate ability to recover and restore its own balance.
Better flexibility, range of motion and day-to-day physical function.
Addresses the imbalances behind slumping, uneven loading and chronic tightness.
Releases held muscle tension and brings the nervous system down a gear.
Supports circulation, digestion, sleep quality and general resilience.
Plan for about an hour. Wear or bring comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts and a t-shirt work well.
We start with your history, your goals and what's actually bothering you. Then a physical assessment of posture, movement and the tissue itself, often including areas away from the pain.
Hands-on treatment tailored to what the assessment found: soft-tissue and trigger point work, gentle joint mobilization, craniosacral technique, and cupping where it helps.
You leave with a clear picture of what's going on, a couple of things to do at home, and a realistic sense of how many visits it should take.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Bowen studied osteopathy for more than three years and has built her practice around one idea: find the root cause, don't chase the symptom. Her training in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology shapes how she reads the connection between the body's structure and how well it works.
She has continued that education well past graduation, with certification courses in cupping, trigger point therapy and craniosacral technique, and travelled to Asia to train in traditional Chinese manual medicine and learn its history first-hand. Bringing those different perspectives together is what makes her treatment approach her own.
In practice, that means addressing the underlying cause to improve what you're able to do, ease your pain, and reduce the chance of the same injury coming back.
Bowen treats in both English and Chinese, so you can describe what you are feeling in whichever language comes more naturally. Describing pain accurately matters more than most people expect, and it is harder in a second language.
You'll only be asked to come back as often as treatment actually calls for it. Payment is due at the time of your appointment, and you'll get an official receipt for your insurance claim.
No extended health coverage? Take 10% off your treatment sessions. Just mention it when you book. Cost shouldn't be the reason you put this off.
It isn't covered by OHIP, but many extended health benefit plans include osteopathic manual therapy. Coverage varies by provider and policy, so we encourage you to check with your insurance company before your appointment and confirm three things: whether osteopathic manual therapy is covered under your plan, whether services from an osteopathic manual practitioner are eligible for reimbursement, and whether they need any specific documents for your claim.
Bowen is a member of the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Practitioners (OAOP), and you'll receive an official receipt to submit. If you have questions about receipts or the claim process, just ask.
Not at this time. Payment is due at the time of your appointment, and you'll receive an official receipt to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. If you're unsure what your insurer needs, ask us and we'll help you get the paperwork right.
Yes. Bowen speaks both English and Chinese, and appointments can be conducted in either. Being able to describe your symptoms precisely genuinely affects the quality of your assessment, so use whichever language feels more natural to you.
At Bow's Flow, an initial assessment and treatment is $140 for 60 minutes. Follow-up treatments are $120 for 60 minutes or $85 for 45 minutes. If you don't have extended health coverage, 10% comes off your treatment sessions. Just mention it when you book.
In Ontario, the titles "osteopath," "DO" and "doctor of osteopathy" are reserved for physicians who graduated from American osteopathic medical schools and are regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners like Bowen provide hands-on, non-medical osteopathic assessment and treatment. Osteopathic manual practice is not yet a regulated health profession in Ontario, which is why it's worth asking any practitioner about their training. Bowen is always happy to walk you through hers.
Massage therapy focuses primarily on soft tissue. Chiropractic focuses largely on spinal adjustment. Osteopathic manual care looks at how the whole body is working together, including joints, muscles, fascia and the systems around them, and treats wherever the assessment points, which is often somewhere other than the painful spot. Many patients use it alongside massage or chiropractic rather than instead of it.
Most of the work is gentle. Some techniques, such as trigger point release or cupping, can feel intense while they're happening, and you may be a little tender for a day afterwards, much like after a workout. Bowen adjusts pressure to what you're comfortable with, so tell her at any point if something is too much.
It depends entirely on what's going on and how long it's been going on. Recent, straightforward complaints often settle in two to four visits. Long-standing patterns take longer. After your first assessment Bowen will give you a realistic estimate. If osteopathy isn't the right fit for your problem, she'll say so and point you somewhere better.
No. You can book directly online. Some insurance plans do require a physician's referral before they'll reimburse, so it's worth confirming with your insurer if you plan to claim.
Loose, comfortable clothing you can move in. Athletic shorts and a t-shirt are ideal. Bowen needs to see how you move and reach the areas being treated, and you'll stay comfortably covered throughout.
